About-Face, Turncoats: Oppressors, Profiteers in Politics, Social Life, Education
Did Communists void my University Diploma and erased my name from the archives of my Alma Mater?

One clinically mad guy, who grew a deep obsession with me, went insofar as to doubt my University Diploma (as stated on the cover of my book). He inquired my Alma Mater, The Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, regarding my University degree. They might have not found my name in the annals of the institution!
I wrote about one of my former professors during my higher studies during the Communist era. I honestly believe the named professor was a turncoat who “betrayed” Communism and became an advocate for the free market! That, of course, happened only after the fall of Communism in 1989!
I wrote also about other famous cases of Romanian Communist turncoats, including a famous soccer player and man of the security apparatus, Cornel Dinu (the URL was removed adevarul.ro/scoala_mea/Cornel_Dinu-om_de_fotbal-_-La_Drept-am_intrat_la_fara_frecventa_0_647935588.html#commentsPage-4).
I left Communist Romania in 1984. My University had a special status, especially since Nicolae Ceausescu was a "graduate" of the college of political economy. (In truth, Nicolae Ceausescu had never set foot in that institution! Curiously, He had gotten his university degree before his high school diploma or baccalaureate. Only in Communism!)
It was unacceptable for such an institution to have a defector among the graduates. In most cases, the Communist régimes simply erased all references to those who defected to the West. Like in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-four, the person who defected ceased to exist even as a name!
When I “defected”, I took along a number of documents, including my birth certificate, and my diplomas (both high school and University). I still keep all my documents issued in Communist Romania! I scanned my University Diploma in two images:
The Rector (President) of The Academy of Economic Studies at that time was one Gheorghe Dolgu. He was pretty well-known in the United States. He was a Romanian Professor Doctor in economics and also studied economics at American institutions. Dolgu served also in the mission of Communist Romania to the United Nations. He was very liberal by Communist standards. He might have saved my cause temporarily, at least. He taught economics only to my class of some 30 students. He probably asked other professors to cut me some slack. Maybe he thought, to himself or aloud, about me: “He isn't even close to a maverick by American standards!”
The Decan (Dean) of my college represented the typical Communist nepotism. The guy was a close friend of Ceausescu's. That's why he was installed in that very important position. His stupidity, however, was the constant joke of the students!
- The most notorious case of turncoat was Boris Yeltsin, the first President of "democratic" Russia. When Communism was in full-bloom and power, Yeltsin was a staunch Communist in a powerful position: Mayor of Moscow. Communism fell; Yeltsin's communist fervor fell as well. His about-face was so egregious that many Russians labelled Yeltsin "an American agent, a CIA spy".
- Current (and long-term) President of Russia, Vlad(imir) "Dracula" Putin, worked for Boris Yeltsin. Then Putin gathered enough power to oust Yeltsin (on the grounds of serious corruption charges). Today (year of grace 2018), Putin is said to be the richest person in the world. Putin even received, as a birthday gift, a mountain in Kyrgyzstan… Yes, Putin owns a mountain!
- His greatest admirer, U.S. President Trump, a self-proclaimed richest man himself, is livid with jealousy, however. Trump wants to be not only “the most tremendously richest man on Earth”, but also in history! As for a “mountain”, Trump dreams of seizing Mount Rushmore for himself, remove the four current presidential figures, and add his own “tremendously presidential” figure in Trump Tower height!
- Putin is also a high-level case of turncoat. A staunch servant of Communism, the former KGB agent turned into the leader of "democratic" Russia. In fact, he changed the régime from Communism to Fascism.
- The main difference between the two totalitarian régimes is the way they treat private property. Fascism accepts private property and even encourages it (especially in war-contributing industries). By contrast, Communism despises private property and tends to own all industries (especially developing war-contributing sectors).
- As a turncoat, Trump made an about-face from a New York liberal (who even starred in soft-porno productions) to a far-right winger. The far-right offered a strong political weapon: Hatred. Trump took full advantage of a political instrument that has worked “wonders” (of the worst kind) throughout history. The most infamous case is Nazi Germany from the 1920s through the year of grace 1945. A “milder” case took place in the U.S. during the Joe McCarthy witch-hunt years.
I visited Romania in 2010. My Alma Mater is still named Academia de Studii Economice (ASE). I visited the institution and I donated a copy of my book to the library of ASE. I told them that I was a student when Georghe Dolgu was the Rector. Nobody remembered that name ... Georghe Dolgu! O tempora, O mores!

* The masterpiece featured at the top is known as: Ion "Parpaluck" Saliu — Self-portrait with red axiomatic-cap. The first draft was created in the 1970s in Romania and was entitled Autoportret cu şapcă-axiomatică roşie. Inspired by Rembrandt's masterpiece: "Self-Portrait with Red Cap".
