The Maximum Limit of Human Population on Earth Before Going "The Dinosaur's Way"

Has any economist or POLITICIAN calculated the MAXIMUM NUMBER OF HUMANS TERRA CAN SUSTAIN? There has to be a limit, as Infinity is a mathematical absurdity.

From Thomas Robert Malthus, an English clergyman and political economist (18th - 19th centuries):

• “That population does invariably increase when the means of subsistence increase, and,
  That the superior power of population is repressed, and the actual population kept equal to the means of subsistence, by misery and vice.”

Also, limits are kept by wars and pandemics...

All politicians today are scared as hell to mention POPULATION GROWTH CONTROL. The U.S. President even succumbed recently to pressure from the (extremely corrupt – child abuse) Catholic Church. The birth control pills are no longer insured for women working in Catholic institutions (including schools and hospitals). I reckon, the priests and bishops want more children to sexually abuse!

The Muslims and Hindi are even more fiercely opposed to birth control than the Western civilization. "Let us have more material for cruelly-blinded children and Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire”!"

Lucky, we know History.
The dinosaurs reached the population limit some 65 million years ago. They were much luckier — they could feast even around the North Pole, where the weather was… tropical! When a population limit is nearing, food gets scarce, the immune system weakens, the viruses thrive… the species collapses (along with the viruses)…

I strongly believe I did the most realistic calculations. The livable area of the planet is sine qua non. The humans can't live in deserts, in the mountains, in the jungles, in swamps, in Antarctica, etc. Forget about the oceans altogether…

1) The RESOURCES are the main element in analyzing population limits. Humans are no longer NATURAL creatures, as our ancestors (wild animals). Humans and their domesticated animals can't live in a purely natural environment. Humans need to process nature in order to survive.

There is no secret today that an alarmingly large number of humans die of starvation and disease every day. Hundreds of millions of humans live in dire misery their entire lives. Yes, there ARE also many more millions of humans who live better than at any time in human history. But the number of those suffering in misery grows much faster than the number of the humans living in decency.

THE HUMAN POPULATION MUST BE ROLLED BACK BY MEANS OF GROWTH CONTROL IN ORDER TO KEEP UP WITH REALISTIC ECONOMIC GROWTH. 5 BILLION HUMANS SHOULD BE THE TARGET OF THIS CENTURY.

2) But let's talk about a second element: the PHYSICAL LIMIT OF POPULATION. Let's consider the humans as NATURAL CREATURES, like the wild animals. They only need a VITAL SPACE (where to find food and shelter). The maximum vital space: Let's say 10-by-10 meters. Maximum area: 100 square meters. I know, it's an impossible-to-live area! Just ask the homeless in the United States… and they are the most "fortunate" homeless people...

• The area of the Earth is some 510,000,000 (510 million) square kilometers. But the area of the land is just about 150,000,000 square kilometers. Furthermore, only around 10% of the land is livable (capable of food production). Or, around 15,000,000 square kilometers. 1 square kilometer = 1,000,000 (1 million) square meters. We divide it by 100, the maximum area of the vital space: 10,000. 15,000,000 * 10,000 = 150,000,000,000 or 150 billion humans.

• 150 billion humans is the PHYSICAL LIMIT OF POPULATION. We must add that such limit is calculated for the most natural conditions: 100 square meters per human being. Indeed, humans can live in cities, towns, or villages. Still, 100 square meter of food land per capita is not nearly enough. How about the vital space of the domesticated animals? Humans CANNOT live without domesticated animals.

3) There are researchers who are… insanely optimistic!

• “Researchers have worked out the population's ultimate limit, and claim the Earth could withstand up to 200,000 times as many of us.”

• Insanely Optimistic Estimations on Limits of Human Population — 200,000 times 7 billion = 1,400,000 billion?!

• “Dr Badescu's calculations, which appear in the International Journal of Global Energy Issues next month, are based on earlier work by the British physicist John Fremlin. In 1964 Professor Fremlin suggested that the Earth would be habitable as long as the amount of heat it received, from activity on the surface and incoming sunlight, equaled the heat it gave out.”

Big bunch of baloney!

4) Well, yes… it is very easy to say nice things about the human beings. But Reality is reality… and it is cruel at times! The world population grew around 7 times in some 50 years. At such a pace, the “last limit” would be reached in some 200 years!

The final — the real FINAL — question becomes:

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE HUMANS REACH THE PHYSICAL LIMIT OF POPULATION?

We won't be around to hear the answer. But, at least, we asked the question.

The dinosaurs answered to us via mountains of fossils. At least, the Dinosaurus dinosauri survived on Earth for hundreds of millions of years. Hopefully, Homo sapiens will survive as well, as in this Carl Sagan hymn:
